Terms of Service
Last updated: September 4, 2026
1. Service Description
VidBrief (the "Service") is a software-as-a-service application that processes user-supplied YouTube URLs and uploaded audio/video files to produce AI-generated summaries, transcripts, chapter outlines, audience-comment analysis, and a personal knowledge base. The Service is operated by the VidBrief team.
2. Account & Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By creating an account you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you are the rightful owner of the email address used to register.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at the contact below if you suspect unauthorized access.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Process content you do not have the right to access or use.
- Process content that infringes intellectual property, defames, or harasses any person.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or overwhelm the Service.
- Use the Service to build a competing AI summarization product.
- Resell, white-label, or expose Service output as your own product without written permission.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
4. Subscriptions & Payment
Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly or yearly cycle. Purchases made in the iOS app are processed by Apple; web purchases are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled before renewal. Manage App Store subscriptions in your Apple account and web subscriptions from the Billing page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period.
Prices, usage limits, and feature gates are documented on the pricing page. We may change pricing with 30 days' notice; existing paid subscriptions are honored at the original price through the end of their current billing cycle. Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under its policies. Other refund requests are reviewed as required by applicable law.
5. User Content & Ownership
You retain ownership of the URLs you submit and the files you upload. By submitting content you grant VidBrief a limited license to fetch, transcribe, summarize, embed, and store derivatives (transcripts, summaries, learning notebooks, embeddings, and limited video frames from files you upload) for the sole purpose of providing the Service to you.
AI-generated summaries and outlines are produced by third-party LLMs and may contain errors. You are responsible for verifying any output before relying on it for decisions.
6. Third-Party Content
VidBrief fetches publicly available content from YouTube. We do not own or control that content, and the YouTube Terms of Serviceapply to your use of YouTube material. Channel and video owners retain all rights to their original work. VidBrief does not create stored timestamped screenshots from YouTube sources; screenshot generation is limited to files users upload.
Comment themes, sentiment estimates, questions, and suggestions shown by VidBrief are VidBrief-generated analysis of a limited public comment sample. They are not metrics provided, endorsed, or verified by YouTube, and they may not represent every viewer. VidBrief does not use comments to infer protected or sensitive traits about commenters.
7. Privacy
Our handling of your data is described in the Privacy Policy. By using the Service you consent to that handling.
8. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT AI OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, VidBrief's total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
10. Termination
You may delete your account and account-linked content from the mobile app. You may also contact support for assistance. Required accounting records may be retained or anonymized as required by law. We may suspend or terminate your account for breach of these Terms with reasonable notice.
11. Changes
We may revise these Terms. Material changes will be announced via email or an in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after that constitutes acceptance.
